The Household as Theatre with John Robertson

In this second installment of my conversation with Mr. Robertson, the household as theatre is discussed. I've always thought it's a very instructive analogy for those either already working in or for those thinking of entering private service. I hope you enjoy the video.

Remember to send in your questions for the "Ask Charles" segments of The Butler Speaks. I'll do my best to answer them all!

  1. Couldn't agree with you both more. Good analogy. I have been Production & Stage Manager on numerous shows in Bristol and always thought the more interesting drama happened backstage.

We were doing Fiddler on the Roof once and realised that one of the thugs that come in and wreck the wedding scene at the end of Act 1 had been given a REAL glass bottle and not the sugar glass bottle... the real one sat on stage waiting to be smashed over the head of Perchik. How we managed to avert that crisis, I shall never know!
