The Perfect Hotel Butler

Well I don't know very much about this commercial and when or where it played, but I think it is just wonderful, and had I known about it sooner, I would have posted it. What I love is how the director was able to correctly translate the impeccable qualities of a professional Butler. In fact I love this short movie so much, I am going to use it in my training, to help teach Butlers how a professional Butler is in every space and always available, but yet never the centre of attention. It's really hard to teach the difference from hospitality vs. Butlering and subtle differences.

Please watch the movie, and let me know what you think, all comments good or bad are welcome!

  1. It is clever, and oh so English, but it plays to a stereotype which in the long run hurts the understanding of the position in real life. Although I have worked in full tuxedo for three years in a private home, that remains an extraordinary situation. Granted, hotels are different, uniform-wise. Also, maybe it's just for humor but he's bordering on impertinent in each situation (reinforcing a stereotype), and being so crosses the boundaries in my eyes. I see new butlers try to be 'sassy', the way waiters are sassy in restaurants, and it's because they see it in movies or as Jeeves on PBS. Discretion is the better part of valor.

And I agree with you, it's very difficult to teach.
